Each city in Tuscany has a lot of car rentals, including the major ones like Hertz or Avis. Prices can change very much from company to company, so we definitely recommend you to evaluate every possibility before making your final choice.

And now, some of useful tips:

• If you already are in Italy and have no internet access, you can go to a bar or an hotel and ask for "Pagine Gialle", which is the italian Yellow Pages directory. Then, on the book, you can search for "Autonoleggi" and you will find all the Tuscany car rental in your area.
  
  
• Italian police is quite strict about some basic rules, so:
  
  
  1. Avoid drinking before driving as the tolerance level is quite low.
  2. Always wear your seat belts.
  3. Keep your light on even during the day, especially if you are not travelling within a town.
  4. Italian speed limits, in Km per hour, are: 50 inside an urban center, 90 freeways and 130 on highways. Be careful because speed radars are basically everywhere.
  5. Usually blue parking spots are not for free so make sure, before you park, that you don't have to pay.
     
     
• Small cars are quite common in Italy as many roads in historical towns can be very narrow so, unless you really want or need to rent a big car, we strongly recommend you to go for a small one.
