Italy Train Tickets
Italy train tickets? Sissignore! Yes, sir!Do you know how italians travel within their own country, if not by car? By train! Italian railways are widely used as they connect almost every single town or village to the rest of the country. Recently, high-speed trains have started travelling across Italy, making it even easier and more confortable for travellers to choose railways as their favourite way-to-go inside Italy.Tuscany is easily accessible by train, and if you love visiting the enchanting towns of this wonderful region... that's the way to go!Florence's main train station, Santa Maria Novella, is directly connected to the rest of the italian rail system, thanks to the central geographic position of the city so, unless you decided to drive across Tuscany, be ready to become an italian citizen and travel the same way they do! There are three types of italian trains: - Regionale. These trains are the ones that connect smaller towns or villages to each other. Usually the trip is slower because they make a lot of stops, but they are a MUST if you fancy visiting some precious small village (and, let me tell you.. there are a lot of them!).
- Intercity. These are the trains that connect important towns. Usually the trip is quite quick, as they only stop at major centres.
- Eurostar. These trains connect the biggest towns in Italy with the rest of Europe. They are very confortable and fast. However, they can be a little more expensive.
For long trips whitin the country, it's possible to reserve a bed on a night train and wake up at destination. The italian railways are property of FS (Ferrovie dello Stato), but I really recommend you to check out for offers and deals on the RailEurope webpage, where you can find special promotions for Italy train tickets and you can see fares and connections by train from Italy to the rest of Europe, which you cannot on the FS webpage.
